The Brown Relationships

Bear + Honey Badger

Balanced Brown

Harmonious Relationship When these two personality types are healthy and in tune, it can yield a wonderfully BALANCED relationship. These two are opposite in every way, the badger is a task oriented, concrete thinking, logical individual who processes information quickly and externally and focuses on the big picture. To the contrary, the bear is a relationship oriented, abstract thinking individual who takes time to process things internally. These differences have the potential to bring perfect balance if navigated well with the honey badger bringing drive and motivation and the bear bringing the gift of knowing how to slow down and appreciate life. Badgers are quick to act whereas the Bear is the epitome of deliberate. This opposite can prompt the Badger to be less impulsive and can prod the bear to action. Also, Bears hate making decisions whereas the badgers embrace it; therefore, this can be a welcome difference for both. The bear’s unwavering loyalty and gentleness can reach a spot in the badger’s tough skin that can make both fiercely protective of each other. The Bear can help the badger build and maintain meaningful relationships while the badger can help prompt the bear to pursue their goals and step out of their comfort zone. The Bear is generally tolerant and even-tempered, and if not pressured too much, will find a way to be agreeable, which further compliments the badger’s need to be decisive.

Beat Down Brown

Dissonant Relationship When dissonant, this relationship can feel like both are BEAT DOWN. Feeling empowered and able to take action is important to the Badger, although impatience can make it difficult for the Badger to collaborate with the Bear who can be slow to take action or decide and is overall passive by nature. The time the Bear spends in deliberation can frustrate the Badger who is action-oriented. Over time, the bear’s hesitation and indecisiveness can stifle the Badger’s sense of empowerment, leaving them feeling BEAT DOWN and bogged down. Whereas the more the badger pressures or rushes the bear, the more disrespected the bear may feel, and typically, the slower they will go. The Badger’s persistence and strong opinions frequently run over the bear, making them feel dominated, controlled, and disrespected or BEAT DOWN. These differences that once were attractive to each other can begin to frustrate and repel one another. They are so opposite, that each settles more in to their tendencies and can even become more extreme; for example, the badger may be even more outspoken and driven because of the bear’s quietness and passivity and the bear will likely become even more reserved due to the intimidating and strong presentation of the badger.

Things to Remember:

The Badger in this relationship will be challenged at times to not come across as insensitive in being so results-oriented and bottom-line with wanting a response or affection or attention or interaction in general. They must strive to SLOW DOWN, honoring the bear’s need to take time to process things. Because the Bear can be indecisive, avoidant and come across as indifferent at times it is important for the Badger to focus on the gentle and loyal nature of the Bear who will generally always be a sympathetic ally. And likewise, it is important for the Bear to recognize the Badger’s need for progress. The badger is prone to perceive the Bear’s quietness as apathy or agreement, when actually, the bear simply needs time to process. To that end, bears frequently interpret the badgers direct communication as definitive and are therefore reluctant to speak up. Therefore, they must learn to speak up to earn the respect of the badger.
