The Gold Relationships
Honeybee + Honeybee
Analytical Amber
When in tune, two Honeybees are the definition of ANALYTICAL. Actually, any Honeybee believes that they are an actual “super-power”. This team may not be able to solve global warming or find a cure for Covid, but they can definitely solve the phenomenon of the endless To-Do list; it will be conquered by the end of the day. Guarantee it!! It will be a new way of getting “your buzz on”. They can look at any situation and evaluate the most practical and efficient way to solve the problem. They will work hard to have a reason and understanding for everything since they both have the need for things to make sense. If you want something done well, this is the pair to put together, it will get done and it will be done correctly. Honeybees are orderly, they appreciate structure and processes, and tend to take on the load of getting things done. Therefore, when paired with another Honeybee, they are likely to feel they have a true partner and have a great sense of security in the stability and reliability as well as the shared work load. They both also have a strong need to hear and to verbalize all the details. This makes for fulfilling and satisfying communication between two Honeybees. Buzzzz.
Grudge Holdin' Golden
When dissonant, the worst characteristics of the Honeybee are exacerbated and this pairing is plagued with the tendency to HOLD GRUDGES. You see, every Honeybee has a log book in their mind of every wrong ever committed and this log book helps them connect the dots between situations to make them all make sense. When you put two of them together, there are so many grudges that it can quickly and easily become a pairing full of resentments. Stamp collectors have nothing on them. Also, Honeybees have extremely high standards, to the point of being perfectionistic; however, they are also hypersensitive to any challenge to their competence. Therefore, when this tendency rears it head in this interaction, it can create an impossible situation. The one Honeybee is likely to see how something could have and even should have been done differently or ‘better’ and tries to help by verbalizing this to the other, which leaves them feeling as though their competence is being questioned. And we know where that’s going to go . . . This typically leads to beating up on themselves and being upset with the challenge. The stingers come out! They are both likely to feel as though nothing is ever good enough for themselves or each other. Also, they are the creators of concrete thinking. Therefore, if they see a situation differently, they will have significant difficulty finding middle ground as they are both black and white.
Things to Remember:
Honeybees are typically sensitive creatures, so validating their efforts in specific language/examples goes a long way; at least for the next 15 seconds. Then they will need to accomplish another task in order to feel energized. Their critical comments are not intentionally meant to discredit the other person’s efforts or bruise their ego; they just want it done “correctly” and efficiently the first time. If it doesn’t make sense to them, then their stingers will start flying and will often be oblivious to the after-effects. Try to show them more grace than they deserve; they are a “special breed” However, they can be invaluable to most settings if you can allow them to “do their thing” and seem appreciative of their efforts. To “stomp” on a bee, is to take away their ability to organize their environment. Their moodiness does not always make sense to them; their lack of self-awareness may not always make sense to non-Bees. So even to each other, their particular ‘logic’ of this situation may not be ‘logical’ to the other Bee.
